課程概述 |
In this semester, students will continue to learn different speech genres on a range of topics: process, opinion, and news report. Each student will practice three in-class speech demonstrations before giving a final speech at the end of the course. To document students' learning, a portfolio that includes major learning materials will be compiled and submitted. |
課程目標 |
By the end of the course, students will be able to (1) outline and organize an effective speech; (2) develop practical presentation skills; (3) research on their own a topic of interest; (4) have and explain their opinions in class discussions; and (5) give a speech confidently, clearly, and effectively in front of a crowd. |
課程要求 |
30% Topic presentations: Each will lead three individual presentations on signed-up dates. Students will incorporate a discussion session into their presentations. Each presentation will last about 20 minutes. Students should video-record their presentations for later self-evaluations and error analysis.
30% Learning portfolio: At the end of the course, each student will compile and submit one learning portfolio. The portfolio will require presentation outline worksheets, self-evaluations, peer reviews, discussion response, and a two-page summary for the overall experience.
10% Student-led feedback provider: Each student will sign up and comment on one classmate's topic presentation. In this activity, students will practice providing constructive feedback to their peers on the stage.
30% Attendance and participation: Students need to come to each class session on time and engage actively in various class activities. Your final grade will be lowered if you fail to do so.
